My First Hook: The Lizard’s Tail

After a couple hours, I completed my first hook. I started with a 3/4 inch round rod, tapering it to a 6 inch point. I then used the horn of the anvil to start to curve my first scroll. Getting this spaced correctly is quite a challenge. We let the piece cool down and put two countersinks for screws in using a ball peen hammer and a 10lbs sledge. We then drilled two holes in it. A quick trip to the wire wheel and this piece is ready to be hung somewhere in my house as a conversation piece… or single hat rack!
