First Sword

Through some trial and error I have been working through my first sword. Still made out of scrap metal, I have polished it to a fine shine. Next I will try to acid etch some cool shapes, symbols, or something…

I started off with this thick piece of  1″ mild steel, I drew it out and to made a cross guard.

I punched a hole through and then polished the top, leaving the bottom unpolished.

Later I tried to use the same 1″ mild steel to make a flower.

First blade! its a short sword… more like a giant knife…

But I am learning and mending my technique to get a smooth curve and a sharp edge.

Putting the crossguard on and it is starting to look like a sword.

Still working on it, need to figure out the etching and handle.
